About
I'm a physicist (PhD, Syracuse University) who works on optics, alignment sensing and control. My dissertation developed adaptive mode matching for LIGO's gravitational-wave interferometers, using cylindrical-lens mode conversion and quadrant photodiodes. As a postdoc at the University of Florida I worked on electro-optic beam steering, spatial light modulators and fast cameras as beam phase sensors.
After that I spent several years as an engineer and lab lead at Southern California Edison, building a test lab from an empty room. Today I teach conceptual physics at Fullerton College and build experiments in my own lab.
I'm interested in optics research and teaching roles, and in collaborations where careful experiments and good explanations matter.
How this site is made
The simulations are built with AI-assisted tools (Anthropic's Claude); I design the experiments and check the physics. Where a model makes assumptions, the page says so.
